The celebration of the international women's day, Nonviolent Initiative for Democracy present a lecture on "the politics of gender and democracy in Iran: Between rights and honor by Dr. Ziba Mir-Hosseini. Since the 1979 Revolution, Iranian politics has conventionally been viewed as a polarized conflict between ‘secular’ and ‘Islamic’ ideologies. She argue that this view has masked the real battle, which has been between despotism and patriarchy, on the one hand, and democracy and feminism, on the other.

Yo Soy 132 academics, Yo Soy 132 artists, the “free journalists 132” and everyday citizens —retirees, children, mothers and entire families — arrived from every corner of the huge plaza.

the US and NATO should have a strong commitment in supporting democracy and protecting women and civil rights in Afghanistan. Similar to the US, the NATO member countries should enter into a written specified agreement with Afghanistan to secure their support beyond 2014.
